Dear
Valued Shipper:
In our efforts to keep rates low and invoicing simple we had discontinued our
Fuel Surcharge back on January 5, 2004. Unfortunately
fuel costs have risen to such a level that we are no longer able to absorb these
additional costs alone.
Effective November 8, 2004, our Index-based fuel surcharge will be
reinstated. The surcharge is based
on the National U.S. Average On-Highway Diesel Fuel Prices reported by the U.S.
Department of Energy. The surcharge
is adjusted monthly – changes are effective the first Monday of each month,
using the price from two months prior. Click
here for an explanation of index based surcharge.

months Fuel Surcharge.
We recognize this is a burden to you our valued shippers.
We also recognize how clever our competition is and feel it is prudent to
remind you to compare all costs (accessorial fees) as you continue to shop for
the best delivery rates available.
Our national competitors also discontinued their fuel surcharges for ground
packages. However, unlike Spee Dee
Delivery, they added a significantly larger fee to more than 95% of Spee Dee
Delivery’s service area. A remote
delivery area service fee of $1.00 was added to commercial deliveries.
So beginning in January their Remote Delivery Area Surcharge applied to
both commercial ($1.00) and residential ($1.75) addresses.
Also, remember our rate for packages
weighing 71–100 lbs are 40-70% less than our largest competitors.
Our Shipment Weight rates are approximately 50% below our largest
competitor. And our one oversize
measurement (not 3) remains larger while our rate is less.
We encourage you to compare all costs, then save with Spee Dee Delivery.
We thank you for choosing Spee Dee Delivery and look forward to serving you.
Respectfully,
SPEE
DEE DELIVERY SERVICE, INC.
